No prior experience is required. WSET 1 is designed for beginners and starts from core wine fundamentals.

What is the difference between WSET 1 and WSET 2?

WSET 1 introduces wine styles and service basics, while WSET 2 goes deeper into grape varieties, regions, production, and systematic tasting.

Do I need WSET Level 1 before Level 2?

No. There are no entry requirements for Level 2, so confident beginners and working professionals can start there directly.

What does the WSET exam look like?

Both exams are closed-book multiple choice. Level 1 has 30 questions in 45 minutes with a 70% pass mark. Level 2 has 50 questions in 60 minutes with a 55% pass mark, Merit from 70% and Distinction from 85%.

Can I take the exam on a laptop?

Yes. You can sit the exam on-screen or on paper. For the on-screen exam, bring your own Windows or Mac laptop, or an iPad, with WSET's secure exam app installed. You take it in class with an invigilator, and your device is locked to the exam until you finish.

When do I receive my results and certificate?

WSET marks every exam and sends the results to us, and we share them with you. WSET then posts your certificate and lapel pin to us (bronze for Level 1, silver for Level 2), and we pass them on to you.

What happens if I don't pass?

You can resit the exam, and WSET sets no limit on the number of attempts. Contact us for the next resit date and fee.

Are the study materials included?

Yes. The course price includes the course materials and the exam fee.
